Wm. Leslie McClurg, 80, Passed Away

Funeral Services Friday Afternoon

William Leslie McClurg, one of New Cumberland’s highly respected citizens passed away Wednesday morning at 10 o’clock. Mr. McClurg had been in failing health for some time, but until about ten days ago he had been able to be around the house and attended church, two weeks ago. He became suddenly ill on Monday and was taken to the Ohio Valley hospital in Steubenville, but brought home again on Tuesday, his physicians could hold out no hope.

Mr. McClurg was born in Pughtown and had he lived until October would have been 80 years of age. He was a son of William McClurg and came to New Cumberland when a boy with his family. He was united in marriage with Jessephine Mackey 55 years ago on June 29th. He was a man of fine character and a member of the M. P. church.

The deceased is survived by his widow, and three children, Mrs. Elizabeth Wood and Archie at home and Albert of Monroe, N.Y. He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. S. G. Smith of Wheeling.

The funeral services will be held at the home on Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock daylight saving time and will be conducted by Rev. Bolton, pastor of the M. P. church, assisted by Rev. Lippincott, of Pittsburgh, a former pastor of the M. P. church of this place.

Interment will be made at the New Cemetery.
