William H. Gill, former Chester millworker, died Monday at 7 a.m. in the Memorial Hospital at Cumberland, Md., following a three-year illness. He was 69.
Mr. Gill was born in Swansea, Wales, and came to America with his parents when he was 12. He was employed in the Chester plant of the American Sheet and Tin Plate Co. for many years and was superintendent of the tin house for the Follansbee Bros. at Follansbee for a short time. He left Chester in 1925 to make his home in Cumberland. He has been retired for six years.
Mr. Gill was a member of the Grace Methodist Church in Cumberland, the Masonic Lodge in Wellsburg, and the Odd Fellows Lodge at Follansbee.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Mamie Cochrane Gill, and a daughter, Mrs. Gladys Fisher of Cumberland; two brothers, John Gill of Follansbee and Robert Gill of Chicago, and three grandchildren.
Rites will be held Thursday afternoon in the Grace Church. Burial will be in Cumberland.
