Former Councilman At Chester Dies At 81
William Guy McGahan, 81, former member of Chester council and street commissioner for several years, died Sunday night in Salem City Hospital, following a six-day illness.
Mr. McGahan conducted a transfer business in Chester for about 35 years. He later worked at the Taylor, Smith & Taylor Co., retiring about four years ago. He had been living with his daughter, Mrs. Fred Staley at Columbiana, for the past seven months. He was a member of the Chester Christian Church.
He leaves his widow, Mrs. Annie McGahan of Columbiana, another daughter, Mrs. W. B. Miller of Columbiana, two sons, Paul McGahan of East Liverpool, and C. E. McGahan of Sandusky, and two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Private rites will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester by Rev. A. F. Hanes. Burial will be in Locust Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call Tuesday night at the funeral home.
