THE DEATH ANGEL CALLS MRS. SNOWDEN
Aged and Greatly Esteemed Lady Passed Away Yesterday Morning.

Mrs. Violetta Thayer Snowden, widow of the late William Snowden died at 8:30 o'clock yesterday morning (November 2, 1911) at the family residence from the infirmities of old age. No lady of the city was better known or held in greater esteem. She was 90 years of age the 14th of last month, and up to a few months ago enjoyed remarkably good health for one of her years. Her husband preceded her to the grave in 1902.

Mrs. Snowden was born at Rutland, Vermont, Octover 14, 1821, and while yet in infancy her parents removed to Ohio and settled at Holliday's Cove, the trip being made with ox carts. Later the family removed to the locality now known as Hookstown, Pa. It was there that she was united in marriage to William Snowden, and they soon after took up their residence in Wellsville.

The following children survive: Mrs. E. J. Whitten, Mrs. S. S. Cope, T. R. and Frank Snowden, all of Wellsville, and Rev. Dr. James Snowden, a professor in the Western Theological Seminary, Pittsburg.

In early girlhood Mrs. Snowden united with the Presbyterian church, and at all times was greatly interested in the cause of Christianity.

Funeral services will be conducted from the home at one o'clock tomorrow afternoon, Rev. William G. Reagle, D. D., pastor of the First Presbyterian church, officiating. Interment in Spring Hill cemetery.
