THOS. GARDNER KILLED BY TRAIN IN BEAVER FALLS
Death Came in Unknown Manner, His Body Being Found on Track
Thomas Gardner, aged 23, was killed early Sunday morning (March 17, 1912). Details of his death are unknown. The last seen of him was on last Wednesday when he told some of his friends that he was going to Woodlawn, Pa., to get a job in a factory there. He was found about 8 o'clock Sunday morning by the crew of a freight train going north. He was not mangled but had several bruises on his body.
A card in his vest pocket with his name on and the name of a local tailor gave a clue of his identity. When his relations were notified of the fact, Mrs. Samuel Conkle, an aunt, went to Beaver Falls and identified him.
The body was brought to this city last evening on the 67:08 train and taken to the home of his mother, Mrs. Lawrence Vanfossen, 1116 Jennings avenue.
The funeral services will take place this afternoon at 2p.m. Rev. Mr. Kirby, pastor of the First Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will be in the Spring Grove Cemetery.
