Samuel Reed Baker, 59, of 2304 Watson Ave., who had been appointed tool engineer at the Morgan Engineering Co., last Dec. 1, died at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the City Hospital after an illness of three weeks.

Mr. Baker started to work at Morgans in 1915 as a machinist and then quit in 1930. He returned in 1940 and later became a foreman. A native of East Liverpool, he lived in alliance 35 years. Mr. Baker was a member of Conrad Lodge 271, F. and A. M. and the Masonic quartet.

He is survived by is wife, Pearl Gallier Baker of the home; four sisters, Mrs. Itha Soehnlen, Mrs. Laura C. Reed, and Mrs. Ruth McDevitt of Wellsville and Mrs. Cordia Hood of East Liverpool, and three brothers, Earl A. of East Liverpool, Taylor S. of Barberton and Lester L. of Aliquippa, Pa.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Myers Funeral Home. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery at East Liverpool.
