Nicholas Geon

Nicholas Geon, aged 71 years, died at his home on Lincoln avenue at 12:30 p. m., Tuesday (July 17, 1900), of old age. He had been confined to his bed since last March. Deceased was one of the pioneer potters of this city. He was born in Lorain, France, and has been in this country 53 years. He first located in Pittsburg and six years later removed to this city and worked at his trade of dishmaker in the potteries. He was for some time employed in the Bennett pottery on the West Virginia side of the river. Twenty five years ago Mr. Geon retired from active labors. He is survived by a wife, Elizabeth, and ten children. The children are: Joseph W., Albert and Edward, of this city, and Frank, of Cleveland; Mrs. C. A. Smith, of the east end, Pittsburg; Mrs. Ed. Mackintosh, and Misses Laura, Elizabeth and Margaret, of this city, and Miss Anna, of Buffalo. Funeral services were held this morning from St. Aloysius Catholic church.
