ATTACK FATAL IN NEW YORK TO N. G. MACRUM
Former Local Financier Succumbs to Brief Illness
WAS 81 AND HAD RETIRED YEARS AGO
For Thirty-One Years Was Cashier of First National Bank
Following an attack of heart failure in New York Wednesday afternoon (March 21, 1912), Nathaniel G. Macrum, formerly a resident of East Liverpool, died in his home in that city yesterday afternoon at 2 o'clock.
Mr. Macrum was 81 years old, and was born in Ireland. For a number of years he was engaged in the dry goods business in Pittsburgh, having moved here about 37 years ago, and for 31 years served as cashier of the local bank by Thomas H. Fisher of the East End, the present incumbent.
A man of sterling qualities and an exceptionally good business man, Mr. Macrum identified himself with the activities of East Liverpool as soon as he located here, adding a little to the progress of the town in its earlier days. He has always stood for progress in the city and was one of the men most interested in the building of Riverview cemetery.
Mr. Macrum was married while living in Pittsburgh, before having come to this city, his wife having died about four years ago. He is survived by Mr. Macrum and five children, Charles H. of California, Misses Bertha and Mary and George H. and Edward K., all of whom reside in New York. He is also survived by a brother, Edward of Helena, Mont., and two sisters, Miss Charlotte of New York city and Mrs. John C. Thompson of this city. Mrs. Robert C. Hall of Thompson boulevard is a niece of Mr. Macrum.
