AGED WOMAN, ILL BUT FEW DAYS, IS CALLED HENCE
Mrs. Nancy J. McEwen, 81, Dies at Home of Her Daughter.
Following but a week's illness of pleural pneumonia, Mrs. Nancy J. McEwen, aged 81, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. John Rinehart, 128 East Second street, at 11:30 o'clock yesterday morning (December 18, 1911). Mrs. McEwen, who for the past 21 years has been a resident of this city, took suddenly ill one week from last Sunday. On account of her advanced years but little hope was entertained for her recovery. Her condition gradually grew worse.
She was born in Finley township, Allegheny county, Pennsylvania. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Byers. Early in life she was married to Thomas G. McEwen, who died 47 years ago. With her daughter, now Mrs. John Rinehart, she removed to East Liverpool some 21 years ago and has resided here since.
Of Friendly Disposition.
Always of a friendly dispolition, she surrounded herself by many close acquaintances and the announcement of her death brings with it no little sadness. Especially is this true in the case of the daughter, Mrs. Rinehart, who has ever been by her mother's side. Mrs. McEwen, who always found it a pleasure to dispense her greetings an smiles upon the young folks, won for herself the familiar term of "Grandma." And so she was known over the city.
Funeral services over the remains will be held from the Rinehart home on East Second street at 7:30 o'clock this evening, and tomorrow morning the remains will be shipped to Imperial, Pa., where interment will be made in the Valley cemetery.
Besides her daughter, deceased is survived by a grandson, Harry Logan, of East Third street.
