AGED WOMAN, LONG ILL, MEETS GRIM REAPER
Mrs. Lucinda Martin, wife of Venerable Abner Martin, Is Called Home.
Mrs. Lucinda Martain, aged 77, wife of Captain Abner Martain and one of the oldest and most respected residents of this city, died at the family home, Martain's Gardens, at 2 a.m. Sunday morning (December 3, 1911), following a lingering illness of a complication of diseases.
Mrs. Martian was born at Industry, Pa., in September 1834 and was married to Capt. Martain in 1858. After their marriage, they resided in Rochester, Pa. for a couple of years and then removed to this city, where they have resided ever since. They have lived in their present home for almost a half century.
Mrs. Martain is survived by her husband, two children and five grandchildren, James A. Martain and Mrs. J. B. Grosshans of this city are the children. Cap. Martain, the husband, is 91 years of age.
Mrs. Martain was a member of the Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, being one of the original members of that congregation. She has always been an ardent worker.
Funeral services will be held from the late home at the extension of St. George street at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Rev. W. A. Smith, pastor of the Pennsylvania Avenue Methodist Episcopal church, will officiate at the services. The interment will be made later in Riverview cemetery.
