Obituary - Moses Bennette

Moses H. Bennette passed away at his home in Gardendale Saturday evening (February 3, 1912) between the hours of 5 and 6 o'clock, death being due to the infirmities of old age.
Deceased was of French-Canadian lineage and born in Quebec, Can., June 1, 1820. At the age of 7 he left home and has seen none of his relatives since. He later came to the United States and for several years lived with the Tidiute Indians known at that time as the "Basketmakers."
When the Civil war broke out he was among the first to join and served until it was over.
Mr. Bennette was widely known all over the country, having lived here for the last 36 years of his life.
His demise, although expected, adds additional sadness to his family, inasmuch as his wife died just three weeks sooner than he.
He is survived by eight children, as follows: John and Elmer, of Sebring, O.; Charles and Mrs. George Bowers, of Beaver Falls, Pa.; Mrs. Walters Andrews, Mrs. Henry Stone and Bert, of this city, and Frank of Hookstown, Pa.
Services over the remains will be conducted buy the Rev. E. P. Wise of the First Christian church, at his late home in Gardendale, Tuesday at 2 p.m. Interment in Riverview cemetery.
