Mary Ellen Barger
Miss Mary Barger, a young lady of New Lisbon, died last Friday from the effects of eating orange rind the previous Sabbath. The symptoms indicated poisoning, and despite medical care she continued to grow worse until she died Friday night in great agony.
[NOTE: Never married. Mary's death record is at the Columbiana County Court House at Lisbon. It states that she died May 16, 1884...aged 27 years 3 days. Using this information her date of birth is calculated to be on May 13, 1857. The Barger Family Bible Records confirms all these dates as does her tombstone. She is buried in the Mt. Zion Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery which is located in Center Twp, Columbiana Co, Ohio.]
