Obituary - Joseph Hessin
East Liverpool Tribune
Lisbon, Feb. 28-A telephone message received here by Richardson Arter Tuesday evening announced the sudden death of Joseph H. Hessin, of this city, who since last November has been at the home of his sister, Mrs. C. F. Hickok at Sidney.
Joseph E. Hessin was well known in Lisbon, where he was born about 65 years ago. He was a son of th4 late Horace Hessin. For many years he was engaged in the manufacture of paint in Cleveland, and it was when his parents began to grow old and fail in health that he disposed of his business in that city and came to Lisbon.
He was a soldier of the civil war, being a member of the 143d Regiment. He was never married and is survived by but one sister, Mrs. C. F. Hickok, at whose home he died. An only brother, Edwin E. Hessin, died several years ago at his home at Long's Crossing.
The remains will be brought to Lisbon on the Erie passenger Thursday evening, and will be taken to the home of Richardson Arter, whose wife was a cousin. Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The interment will be made in the Lisbon cemetery. (February 27, 1912)
