Retired Water Worker Dies

John Wilbert Howell, 73, retired city water department employee was found dead in his home at 727 Avondale St. today (May 20, 1954) at 5:45 a.m. the victim of a heart attack.

Mr. Howell was employed by the city for more than 45 years, having worked in both the water and engineering departments.

He retired as assistant water lineman March 31, 1948. He then was employed by the D. M. Ogilvie & Co. and had worked Wednesday.

Mr. Howell was born Sept. 25, 1880, in Chester and lived in East Liverpool for 53 years. He was a member of the First Church of Christ and Lodge 379 and Encampment 107 of the Odd Fellows.

He leaves his widow, Mrs. Margaret Hart Howell at home: three sons, Wilbert J. Howell and Charles E. Howell of East Liverpool, and Robert E. Howell of Newport, Ky.; a daughter, Mrs. Naomi Leonard of Cincinnati; a sister, Mrs. Anna McKinsey of New Brighton, and three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Rites will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Martin Funeral Home by the Rev. William C. Newman. Burial will be in Columbiana County Memorial Park.

Friends may call Friday afternoon and night at the funeral home.
