John W. Hamilton,
Aged 51 years, was killed by an electric wire, Monday night, Christmas eve, while in discharge of his duty as policeman in east end. At the time of the fatality he was endeavoring to repair an electric arc light.
John Hamilton was one of the best known men in the city, both in business and political circles. He was born at Congo, W. Va., June 16, 1849. He moved to this city in 1881, and the following year he was chosen a member of city council. He at that time was engaged in the feed business, at the corner of Fourth and Market streets. Twelve years later, he moved to Pittsburg, returning to this city two years ago. It was with regret that his friends learned of his untimely demise.
