Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Cannon Funeral Home in Midland for John R. Shannon, 78, of 5 Carnegie Dr., Midland.

Mr. Shannon died Monday (June 18, 1973) at the Little Forest Medical Center in Youngstown after a long illness.

He was born in Smiths Ferry Oct. 22, 1894, and was retired from the Crucible Steel Division of Colt Industries, Midland. He was a World War I veteran and a lifetime member of Midland American Legion Post 481.

Mr. Shannon also belonged to VFW Post 66 of Eat Liverpool, Odd Fellows Lodge of Smiths Ferry, Glasgow Masonic Lodge 485 of Midland and the First Presbyterian Church of Midland.

Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Faye Johnson Shannon, at home; a son, John R. Shannon, Jr., of Macungie, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Kelly of Wellsville; a brother, Hugh Shannon of Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. James Thompson and Mrs. J. Arthur MacMillan of Venice, Fla., five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

the Rev. George H. Bohlender will conduct the Wednesday services. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
