DIED SUDDENLY YESTERDAY AT ALLIANCE, OHIO
John McGuire, aged 50 years, died at his boarding house in Alliance at 11:00 o'clock yesterday morning (February 2, 1904) after a short illness. A telegram was received by his family at their home on Sophia street in the afternoon announcing his death. When last heard from he was well and while full particulars are not obtainable, it is thought that his death must have come very suddenly.
Most of the time for the past 30 years Mr. McGuire has been a resident of this city. He was a well known potter and had a host of intimate friends. He is survived by his wife and four children-John, Anna, Thomas, and Joseph.
The deceased was born in Ireland and came to this country in the early seventies, soon settling in East Liverpool. For years he had been employed in various potteries as dishmaker and jiggerman. For six weeks he has been working in Sebring, but made his headquarters in Alliance, his family remaining here. In his letters there were never any intimation that his health was failing.
John McGuire, the eldest son, and W. Quinn went to Alliance last night, and the body will be brought home at 12 o'clock today. The funeral services will be held at the Catholic church Thursday, the hour to be announced later. Interment in the Catholic cemetery.
