John Hancock, aged 77 years, died at his home at 359 Lisbon road at 2 o'clock yesterday afternoon (February 3, 1904). He had been in poor health for some time, partly incident to his advanced years. Death was due to dropsy. The deceased is well known throughout the city and was universally liked and respected. He is survived by his wife, Margaret, and two children, Harry and Mrs. Emma Harrison, and several step children. He was born February 3, 1827, at Woolstanten, England, and came to America in 1880. He was a stone mason by trade and laid the first stone gutters in the city.
The funeral services will be held at the house at 1:30 o'clock Monday afternoon. Rev. David Jones, of the M. E. church will officiate.
