Obituary - John Gallagher
East Liverpool Tribune
John Gallagher, whose home is two miles back of Chester died at the state hospital in Huntington , W.Va., Sunday (December 6, 1903) after a long illness. The deceased was a victim of epilepsy, which two years ago dethroned his reason. He was committed to the asylum at Weston, thence to the home for incurables located at Huntington. In his weakened condition he contracted consumption which, in conjunction with the other ailments, rendered his recovery practically impossible. That the end was near was learned last week when his wife and her brother were summoned to his bedside. Unable to be of service to him they returned home Sunday and later in the day received a telegram announcing his death.
The deceased is survived by his wife and several children who live with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Spence Gallagher. He was about 32 years old, well known, highly respected and was a well to do farmer until he lost his mind.
The body will be shipped here today for interment. The arrangements for the funeral service had not been announced last evening.
