Obituary - John F. McGuire
East Liverpool Tribune
John F. McGuire, aged 34 years, died yesterday morning (August 7, 1912) at 3 o'clock at a hospital at Cambridge Springs, Ps., after a lingering illness of complication of diseases.
Some time ago, in the hope of regaining his health he decided to go to Cambridge Springs where it was the intention to have an operation performed on him. His condition became such that it was impossible to do so, however.
His mother, Mrs. Anna McGuire, and brother Thomas and Dr. Merle McCutcheon left his city on Monday and were at the bedside at the time of the death.
He was on of the best known young men in the city. He was a dishmaker by trade and worked in several of the local potteries. Later he engaged in the wholesale and retail confectionery and cigar business with Thomas Marran under the name of Marran and McGuire. After the firm sold out, he returned to the potting business but has not worked for the past six months.
He was a member of the St. Aloysius church and of the Knights of Columbus.
The remains will be brought to this city this morning. Arrangements for the funeral have not been made yet.
