East Liverpool Tribune
Mrs. Keziah Phillips, of Indiana avenue, Chester, received notice yesterday (December 12, 1905) of the death of her father Jesse Maple, at his home near Hammondsville, Ohio. The deceased was 96 years of age, was an industrious and prosperous farmer, and had lived on the farm where he died between fifty and sixty years. Death was due to the infirmities of old age. He was a member of the Christian church during the greater part of his life, and was for a number of years an elder and principal worker in the church. He was twice married, his second wife, who was Miss Margaret Marshall, died sixteen years ago. Following are the names and ages of the children who survive: Mrs. Mary McClain, Irondale, 77; David Maple, at home 76; Albert Maple, Oil City, Pa., 70; Mrs. Sarah Shipley, Cleveland, O., 65; Mrs. Sarah Phillips, Chester, W.Va., 63; Mrs. Anna Gray, at home, 61.
Previous to Mr. Maple's death there were five generations of the family. Mrs. J. J. Kerr, of Wellsville, is a granddaughter, and her daughter, Mrs. William Herron, has two children, Thomas, aged 11 and Iola, aged 15.
Mrs. Phillips will leave this morning for Hammondsville to attend the funeral which will be held at 19 a.m. Friday from the late residence of her father.
