James, McGarvey, aged 72 years, a prominent farmer of Madison township, died suddenly at his home at 8:30 o'clock Saturday evening (March 4, 1911), as the result of over-exertion in assisting in the razing of a barn on a farm owned by his son, Samuel.

His death created a great shock in the immediate vicinity of his home. He was well known and highly esteemed. He was a faithful member of the Madison Presbyterian church. Surviving are his wife and five children, Mrs. Ann Henderson, Mrs. William Watson, and Joseph McGarvey of Lisbon, Samuel McGarvey, Madison township and Frank McGarvey of Cleveland.

The funereal services will be held from the late home at 10:30 o'clock this morning, Rev. L. R. Wylie, pastor of the Madison Presbyterian church officiating. Interment at Township Line cemetery.
