Obituary - J. A. Correll

A telegram announcing the death (March 1, 1912) of J. A. Correll, 83, of New Philadelphia, O., was received today by his granddaughter, Mrs. Thomas Anderson, of Avondale street.
Mr. Correll spent a portion of his early life around this part of Cloumbiana County. He worked on the Pittsburgh and Cleveland section of the Pennsylvania Railroad when the first track was laid, and was the first man to ride on the line when completed between Industry and Wellsville.
He had been an Odd Fellow for the past 51 years. Joined Company A., Fifty-first Regiment, Ohio Volunteers, when the war broke out and served three years and eleven months. At the time of his death he was pension agent and squire in New Philadelphia.
Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Anna J. Miller will leave this afternoon for the funeral, which will be held on Sunday.
