DEATH SUMMONS HEZEKIAH BRIGHT
Demise Occurred at 2:40 O'Clock Saturday Afternoon
At His Home on Main Street-Funeral at Two P. M. Tuesday

Death has summoned another aged and highly esteemed citizen of Wellsville. Hezekiah Bright, who had been in feeble health for several weeks, passed away at his home on Main street at 2:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon (August 5, 1911), as a result of a general breaking down of his nervous system.

Mr. Bright was in the 82nd year of his age. He was born on a farm near Hammondsville, Jefferson county, Ohio, in 1829, a son of Elijah and Pricilla Bright. When a lad of 10 years he removed with his parents to Wellsville, and entered the schools of the city. In 1852 he journeyed overland to California, and was for two years a resident of Sacramento. His stories of that eventful trip across the continent, with its attending hardships, dangers and privations, never failed to interest his auditors. It required four months and eight days to make the trip.

Returning to Wellsville in 1854, he was united in marriage with Miss Martha Gibson, long since dieceased. He was for 35 years assistant baggagemaster at the local C. and P. station, and during all that time carried the mails form the trains to the postoffice. Having reached the age limit 12 years ago, he was retired by the company. A kind and indulgent father, good citizen, an honorable man, he was held in the highest esteem by a wide circle of friends. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church.

The following children survive: Mrs. W. D. Frazier, William Bright, Mrs. W. H. Delly and Miss Mary all of Wellsville. Three brothers and two sisters also survive: Emmons, of Brighton, W. Va., W. M., of Wellsville; Leonard, of Salineville, O.; Mrs. William Green, of Gallion, O. and Mrs. Abbie Barnard, of Courtland, N. Y. Mrs. Green, Emmons Bright, and a niece, Mrs. Cora Davis, the latter a daughter of Mrs. Barnard, will attend the funeral.

Funeral services over the remains will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afternoon from the home. In the absence of Rev. J. W. Giffn, D. D. The services will be conducted by Rev. J. Gavin, pastor of the United Presbyterian church at Calcutta, O. Interment will be made later in Spring Hill cemetery.
