Obituary - George P. M'Nicol

George P. M'Nicol, aged 45 years, of this city, assistant treasurer and general managerof the clay department of the Potters' Co-operative company, the owners of the Dresden pottery, died at a sanitarium near Canton at 5:30 o'clock yesterday (July 6, 1911) morning. Death came after almost a year's illness of a complication of diseases. Deceased had been at the sanitarium for several weeks.
Mr. McNicol was one of the best known potters in the city. He was a lifelong resident here. He was born October 11, 1866, a son of the late John and Mary McCarron McNicol. At an early age he became interested in the pottery business and learned the trade of a jiggerman, at which he was employed for several years. Later he purchased stock in the Potter's Co-operative company and was retained as manager of the clay department of the plant, besides holding the office of assistant treasurer in the company. He has had charge of the clay department at the Dresden pottery for the past six years.
He was a prominent Knight of Columbus in which organization he was very active. He was a faithful member of St. Aloysius Catholic church.
Surviving are three brothers, H. A., D. E. and T. A. McNicol, all of this city, and two sisters, Mrs. James Green of this city and Sister Mary Stanislaus of the Ursiline Academy, Toledo.
The body was brought to this city on the 6:45 train last evening and taken to the home of Mrs. James Green, West Sixth street, where he formerly resided. The funeral services will be held from the St. Aloysius church at 9 o'clock Saturday morning, Rev. Father Thomas M. Smythe officiating. Interment will be made in the St. Aloysius cemetery.
