Obituary - George H. Barnhart
East Liverpool Tribune
George H. Barnhart, aged 63, a pioneer potter, died at his home on Third street Saturday morning (October 14, 1911) at 3 o'clock. Since the spring of 1910 Mr. Barnhart had been in poor health, although he was able to remain at work most of that time. About two weeks ago, he was forced to remain at home, where he grew steadily worse.
Mr. Barnhart was born in Trenton, N. J., and resided there until he was 22 years of age, when he came to East Liverpool, and secured employment as kiln fireman at the Goodwin Pottery, where he had been steadily employed until his death.
No man was better posted in the duties of this position than was Mr. Barnhart, and none was better able to advise his fellow-workmen on the difficulties arising in that position. The Goodwin pottery will be closed until after the funeral out of respect to his memory.
He was a charter member of the Royal Arcanum of this city. On the 27th day of August, 1887, he was married to Miss Lettie A. Booth of this city. He is survived by his wife and six children, Ruth, Alma, Clark, May, John and George, all of whom reside here.
Funeral services will be held from the late home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Friends may view the remains from 7 to 10 Monday evening.
