Francis M. (Shorty) Beaver, 93, of Price St. Ext., a retired potter, died Sunday at 11 p.m. at City Hospital, where he had been a patient for a week.

He was born Aug. 17, 1876, a son of the late Thomas Beaver and Emma Hissom Beaver. He had resided in this area for 75 years and at one time was a kilnplacer at the Homer Laughlin Chino Co. retiring in 1950. He later worked in potteries at Steubenville. He was a member of the First Church of Christ and the IBOP. He was married in 1900 to Mrs. Rosetta Beaver, who died in 1953.

He is survived by five sons, Franklin Beaver and Raymond Beaver of Fonatana, Calif., Blaine Beaver of Grimms Bridge, Robert Beaver and Edward Beaver of East Liverpool; two daughters, Mrs. William (Buelah) Winters of Hookstown and Mrs. Willliam (Sylvia) Herrich of East Liverpool, 25 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Martin Funeral Home. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday night.
