Erma V. Harsha
Calcutta - Erma V. Harsha, 88, of Crestvue Place, died at the East Liverpool Convalescent Center #1 on Wednesday, June 18, 2003, after a brief illness.
She became the daughter of the late Joseph C. and S. Alma Moorehead Barnhart at their home in East Liverpool, Dec. 8, 1919.
She lived her entire life in this area working for 27 years as the head cook at Calcutta Elementary School before her retirement in 1981. Mrs. Harsha was a graduate of East Liverpool High School, class of 1937, a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in East Liverpool and the secretary of the Home Builders in the Church.
Her husband, James V. Harsha, Sr., whom she married on September 19, 1939, died Dec. 3, 2002.
She is survived by two sons, James V. Harsha II and his wife Roxie of Calcutta and Lee C. Harsha and his wife Tonia of Clearwater, Fla.; six grandchildren, Beth Whan, Amy Cunningham, Jim Harsha, Crystal Harshberger, Shannon Janzen and Tonya Janzen; and three great grandchildren, Caylee Cunningham, LeeAnn Shehan Harsha and Troy Harshberger.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph C. Barnhart Jr., and a sister, Ora Josephine Barnhart.
Services will be held at the Calcutta Chapel of the Martin MacLean Altmeyer Funeral Homes on Saturday at 10 a.m., with Pastor Larry Hall of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the United Presbyterian Cemetery of Calcutta.
The family will be present to receive friends at the funeral home in Calcutta on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
