THE DEATH MESSENGER SUMMONS DR. MURDOCK
Passed Away at 12:30 O'Clock Yesterday Afternoon at the
East Liverpool City Hospital form Dropsy of the Heart.
Death claimed Dr. John M. Murdock at 12:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon (July 5, 1911) at the East Liverpool City hospital, where he had been under treatment for several weeks for dropsy of the heart, aged 66 years.
Dr. Murdock was a practicing dentist in Wellsville for many years, was well known and generally esteemed. His health began to fail about two years ago, and he retired from active practice of his profession. Placing himself under treatment by some of the best medical talent in this and other cities, including Pittsburg, it was finally decided that if any relief was to be obtained it would only result from careful nursing in a hospital, and he decided to enter the East Liverpool institution.
Born and reared in Wellsville, a son of the late Squire James Murdock, he finished his education in the local schools and later graduated from a dental college. Returning to Wellsville he began the practice of his profession and in the course of a few years was united in marriage with Mrs. Jenkins, daughter of the late Dr. D. G. Hamilton of this city. A few years after their marriage Mrs. Murdock died. A son, Wilbur Murdock, was born to this union. Two step-children, Mrs. Olive Peterson of Carrollton, and Sampson Jenkins, also survive. The deceased is also survived by a brother, Graham Murdock, of Swickley, Pa.
Funeral services will be held at one o'clock Friday afternoon from the First Presbyterian church, of which the deceased was a lifelong member. The pastor, Rev. Dr. William G. Reagle, will be the officiating clergyman. Interment will be made in Spring Hill cemetery.
