EX-POLICE OFFICER OF CHESTER IS DEAD

Dan Baker Dies at Brush Run, Pa., After a Brief Illness.

Dan Baker, as ex-police officer of Chester, died at 5:30 o'clock last evening ( December 15, 1905) at Brush Run, nine miles from Beaver Falls, on intestinal trouble after four days illness. He was aged 42 and is survived by two brothers, Robert of Vanport, Pa., and Wash Baker of Bank street this city. His body will be brought to this city for burial.

Mr. Baker had been ill since Monday. He complained of severe pains in the stomach and the customary remedies were applied without any effect. The attending physician was unable to diagnose the case and he called into consultation with his specialists from Beaver Falls, Beaver and Pittsburg, who had determined to operate upon the patient Saturday. Mr. Bakers condition grew speedily worse Friday morning, and he passed away before the day had ended. He died in the arms of Elmer S. Good, of Chester, who worked with him and had been with him constantly since he had been stricken ill.

Will Johnston, also of Chester, was also with him when he died.

Mr. Baker went to Brush Run about two months ago and was field boss for the Manufacturers Heat and Light company, of Pittsburg, which is drilling gas wells in that section.

The news of Mr. Baker's death was brought to the city by Mr.Good and Mr. Johnston, who arrived on the mid-night train.
