Alfred Shone a potter, died at 5:30 Saturday evening (October 14, 1905) at the city hospital after a few days illness of peritonitis. He was 49 years old and had been ill since last Wednesday. An operation was preformed upon him at the hospital in the hope of prolonging his life, but it failed to bring about the desired result. The remains were taken in charge by Undertaker Todd and after being prepared for burial were removed to his late residence 358 Lisbon street.

The funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at St. Stephen's Episcopal church, the Rev. George Hunter Claire officiating. Interment will be made in Riverview cemetery.

Mr. Shone was born in England and had been a resident of this city 25 years. He wa a kilnhand by trade and was last employed on the gloat crew at the Standard pottery. He was a member of the kilnmens' local No. 9, and was respected by the members of his craft and by all who knew him. He is survived by his wife and the following children: Arthur, Harry, Frank, Flora, and Alfred Jr., also by two brothers who reside in England.
