Alfred Pierson
East Liverpool- Alfred J. Pierson, 78, of Ninth Avenue, LaCroft, died at
8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2006, at his home following a lengthy illness.
Born Aug. 21, 1928, in Falls Creek, Pa., a son of the late Charles
Morgan Pierson, Sr. and Louise Hinks Pierson Smith, he had lived since
1931 in East Liverpool, other than eight years spent in Lisbon.
A member of Glenmoor Presbyterian Church, he was a Nationwide Insurance
Agent for 35 years, retiring in 1993.
An avid golfer, he was also a 32nd Degree mason with a membership in
East Liverpool Masonic Lodge #681.
His wife, Ione Ebert Pierson, whom he married Feb. 20, 1949, survives at
home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Merry Anne Pierson and her husband Dr.
Thomas Shultz, of Nashville, Tenn., and Nancy Heaton and her husband
Edward Sr. of Port Washington, Wis., and two sons, Allen R. Pierson and
his wife Peggy, of East Liverpool, and James "Sam" Pierson and his wife,
Kara, of Wellsville. There are eight grandchildren, Jill (Jim) Riccardo,
Jodi (Shawn) Hughes, Juli Pierson, Nicholas (Alicia) Arnold, Randi
Arnold, Ashley Pierson, McKenna Pierson and Regan Pierson; three great
grandchildren, Jenna Riccardo, Leah Riccardo and Devyn Arnold; one step-
grandchild, Raymond Shultz.
A sister-in-law, Claudie Pierson of Newell, WV and a brother-in-law,
John Ebert of Lisbon, also survive.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers,
Charles Morgan Pierson, Jr. and George H. Pierson, and by a daughter
Penny Jo Pierson, who died in 1954.
Services are to be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Dawson Funeral Home,
with Rev. Dr. Vel Vais of Glenmoor Presbyterian Church and the Rev. Mark
Dunn of 1st Evangelical Presbyterian Church officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday.
Burial is to be in Lisbon Cemetery.
